Food alone won’t make you happy (although you can argue with it). However, you should admit, it’s better to eat stress with something useful than chips and soda. Some scientists believe that certain foods can improve mood due to serotonin, which is also called the “hormone of happiness”. What kind of products are these?

Doctors associate the feeling of happiness with serotonin, and even call it – “pleasure hormone”. You will not find it in the products. But you can find its predecessor, the amino acid tryptophan, in many products.

  • The undisputed leader is cheese. Especially Swiss, cheddar, parmesan. There is also a lot of it in brynza 30-50 gr of cheese per day — and you’re happy!
  • There is a lot of serotonin in chocolate. But keep in mind that bitter chocolate is useful, where the content of cocoa beans is 70% and higher. In milk chocolate, where the manufacturer has stuffed sugar, glucose, and trans fats, serotonin simply does not fit there.
  • If you like bananas – great because they also contain a decent dose of the pleasure hormone.
  • Any greens are also useful for health – they contain antioxidants, trace elements, and fiber. But there are not enough proteins in it. To get the 100 grams of protein needed for our body, you need to chew 5 kilos of leafy greens. You can do it easier – eat a portion of chicken with a green salad. Then your brain will be happy (got a dose of serotonin), and your body (of course, it was saturated with protein), and beauty has not suffered (green salad for beauty is our everything).
  • Our brain is happy to absorb fats. If the brain could talk, it would not ask for a lollipop, but a fat fish, and even with caviar. Because fish has everything you need: a lot of protein, fat, especially their favorite Omega 3 fatty acids. Also, vitamins B1, B9, and B12 — without them, the nervous system refuses to work, and its owner goes into a long depression.
  • We have a slightly lower need for meat. If we talk about happiness, turkey (it contains useful tryptophan and phenylalanine) or chicken (a source of Tryptophan) will make us happy. It is also worth eating poultry because it contains a record amount of biotin, a beauty vitamin.

3 hormones are responsible for a good mood. They are not contained in food but are synthesized in the human body. But several products contain amino acids involved in the creation of these hormones.

Endorphins are hormones of joy. The production of endorphins is promoted by dark chocolate, hot pepper, vanilla.

Serotonin has a calming effect and at the same time lifts the mood. Folic acid contributes to the production of serotonin. Beef liver and cod liver, walnuts, hazelnuts, cocoa are rich in them.

Tryptophan is also needed to create serotonin and endorphins. It is found in meat and poultry (turkey, chicken, veal, pork), eggs and cheeses, legumes are rich in it.

Dopamine is a pleasure hormone. Phenylalanine is involved in the creation of dopamine. It is found in large quantities in products rich in protein: hard cheeses — parmesan, cheddar, poshekhonsky, Swiss; in turkey and beef meat, mackerel, perch, and pollock.
